Explanation of Convenience Fees

The Tax Collector’s office is pleased to announce we will accept Mastercard, Discover, Visa or American Express.

Credit card companies charge a fee to businesses or governments who accept their cards. The fee is a percentage of the amount charged. Thus, accepting credit cards is an additional expense. To offset the cost of credit card usage, Florida Law specifically provides for a convenience fee to be added to those transactions. Unfortunately, credit card companies are only allowing the use of convenience fees IF the payment is made through a “third party” such as over the internet or phone. A convenience fee will be added to your tax bill if you choose to pay by one of these methods. All convenience fees are paid to the company that processes the credit card transactions. The Tax Collector’s office does not retain ANY portion of this fee.

As always, we are proud to serve you.
